Discover the beauty, history and culture of Italy on this carefully designed 8-day journey from Milan to Rome. Explore the enchanting Italian Lakes, romantic Verona, magnificent Venice, historic Assisi and Perugia, the spectacular island of Capri, ancient Pompeii and the eternal city of Rome.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Milan

Welcome to Italy! On arrival in Milan, you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy some free time to relax and settle in. Tour information will be provided in the afternoon, either directly or through the information board at the hotel reception.

Day 2 Milan – Italian Lakes – Verona

Begin your journey through one of Italy's most scenic regions – the Italian Lakes. Travel to Lake Orta and visit the charming medieval town of Orta San Giulio. Take a train to the historic town centre before continuing by boat to the Island of San Giulio, a picturesque island home to a monastery. Continue to Lake Maggiore and stop in Stresa, where you will have the option to visit the famous Borromean Islands. One of the highlights is Isola Bella, renowned for its magnificent palace and beautiful gardens. Please note that the palace is closed during winter. After lunch, continue to Verona, the romantic city associated with Romeo and Juliet.

Day 3 Verona – Venice

Enjoy time to explore Verona, one of Italy's most romantic and historic cities. Continue to Venice, arriving at approximately 1:00 p.m. A scenic boat journey to St. Mark's Square is included, followed by a guided walking tour through the fascinating City of Canals. Discover Venice's unique architecture, charming streets and famous waterways, with a visit to see traditional Murano glasswork. The remainder of the afternoon is free for you to explore at your own pace. You may wish to experience an optional gondola ride.

Day 4 Venice – Padua – San Marino – Gubbio – Perugia

Depart Venice and travel to Padua, an important pilgrimage destination. Visit the magnificent Basilica of Saint Anthony. Continue towards the Adriatic coast and San Marino, one of Europe's smallest independent countries, spectacularly located on a fortified mountain. After lunch, travel through the scenic Apennine Mountains towards Gubbio, a beautifully preserved historic town known for its medieval architecture, the Palace of Consuls and its 12th-century cathedral. Continue to Perugia, the historic capital of Umbria.

Day 5 Perugia – Assisi – Rome – Naples

Perugia – Assisi – Rome – Naples Sunday, 25 October 2026 Enjoy a panoramic tour of Perugia, famously known as the city of chocolate. Accompanied by a local guide, explore the historic medieval area and its fascinating underground streets and squares. Continue to Assisi, where you will have time for lunch and a visit to the Basilica of Saint Francis. In the afternoon, continue south towards Naples, with a possible stop in Rome to drop off passengers. Arrive in Naples in the evening.

Overnight: Naples

Day 6 Naples – Capri – Sorrento – Salerno

After breakfast, travel to the port of Naples and board a ferry to the beautiful Island of Capri. Once on Capri, you may choose to take the funicular to Capri town, where you can enjoy a leisurely walk and spectacular island views. After lunch, continue by ferry to Sorrento, a charming coastal town dramatically positioned above the sea. Enjoy some free time to explore. Continue to Salerno, located on the beautiful Gulf of Salerno.

Overnight: Salerno

Day 7 Salerno – Pompeii – Naples – Cassino – Rome

Start the day with a visit to Pompeii, the ancient Roman city preserved beneath the ash of Mount Vesuvius. A guided visit and entrance ticket are included. Continue to Naples, one of Italy's oldest continuously inhabited cities. Explore its historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and enjoy free time for lunch. Continue to Cassino, where you may admire the famous abbey and learn about the area's important World War II history. Proceed to Rome, arriving in the evening.

Overnight: Rome

Day 8 Rome

After breakfast, your Italian journey comes to an end. Depart with wonderful memories of Italy's lakes, historic cities, islands, ancient ruins and spectacular landscapes.
